FAQs

Some activities have fees. What if we can't afford them?

NO student will be turned away from any activity in our Youth Ministries for financial reasons. Financial assistance or scholarships will be arranged on the basis of need. All requests for assistance will, of course, remain confidential. Call Amy at 356-9078 or email her at ashreve@champaignfumc.org.

Why are there so many opportunities under the umbrella of "Youth Ministries?"

God has given each of us gifts and talents that need to grow. Growth occurs through opportunities. So, the opportunities that are available through our Youth Ministries mirrors the current talents and gifts of our youth. As more talents and gifts are identified, our Youth Ministries will seek to create avenues for them to flourish.

Can I be involved in just 1 or 2 of the opportunities (like just UMYF or just UMYF and Bible study)?

Yes indeed. And bring a friend! There are a few activities that do require that a youth participate in a given number of hours.

What is UMYF?

UMYF stands for United Methodist Youth Fellowship, which traditionally meets on Sunday evenings and includes some type of snack supper along with time for fellowship and sharing.

Why is it important for all of the grades to eat snack supper at the same time?

Simple answer: MOMENTUM! Youth like to be where other youth are. The more youth we have, the more momentum! Plus, it has the added advantage of helping youth from different grades get to know one another. An added feature is that it allows us to be better stewards in planning food for the snack supper.
