FUMCC Curriculum

Our school has implemented the creative curriculum program for Early Childhood Learning. Our lesson plans and teaching methods are based on this method of teaching. The philosophy of the Creative Curriculum states that young children learn best by doing. Learning isn't just repeating what someone else says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and to learn firsthand about the world we live in .

As each teacher prepares lesson plans and activities for the young children in the classroom, she/he takes care to utilize the goals of the Creative Curriculum to ensure that children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. The classroom environment allows children to work at their own pace, using their creativity to gain a positive sense of themselves. Planned activities in the various areas of the room allow children to gain knowledge about their world through active exploration. The concepts gained through these explorations will be used not only in their preschool years, but in later years as well.
