Preschool

Weekday preschool was established in 1965 as a community outreach program to aid 3 to 5 year olds in their physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth. Children are given the opportunity to experience a variety of age and individually appropriate materials, activities and equipment through hands-on exploration and self-motivation.

Staff

Weekday preschool is staffed by teachers with professional training who are dedicated to guiding each child with love and understanding as he/she cultivates the skills for the challenge of kindergarten.

Teachers plan activities to:

• encourage children to express themselves through materials, movement and language.
• encourage children to develop positive attitudes towards teachers, school and learning.
• encourage independence.
• encourage children to explore the environment and to develop a curiosity and a questioning ability which will promote future learning.
• encourage children to develop social skills in interacting with other children.

School Term

Classes begin the day after Labor Day and end the last Thursday or Friday before Memorial Day.

Class Schedule

9:00-10:15: Free time

10:15-10:30: Clean up

10:30-10:45: Group time

10:45-11:15: Snack/Quiet play

11:15-11:45: Gym/Park

11:45-12:00: Story time/Dismissal

Class Options

Preschool is open to children 3-5 years of age. All classes are from 9:00-12:00. Children may attend Tuesday/Thursday, Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Monday through Friday.

Enrollment and Registration

Three year olds must be three on or before September 1. Enrollment is handled on a first come-first served basis. Physical exams are required upon acceptance. To register, call 217-356-1247.
